Karen Karki Photography I am a photographer based in Muncie, IN. I love telling stories with my work. Here you'll find out about the projects I'm working on - including everything from senior portraits, engagements, and weddings, to maternity, newborn, child, and family portraits. Wed, 07 Nov 2012 20:22:40 +0000 en Emily M. [Muncie, Indiana senior portrait photography] Fri, 28 Oct 2011 03:50:43 +0000 Karen Emily and I had so much fun during her recent senior session. She is a senior at the Indiana Academy here in Muncie, and we made our way all over Ball State’s campus as well as a couple of other spots for her photos.

Such pretty blue eyes, Emily!! :)

Brave Emily didn’t even hesitate when I asked her what she thought of doing some photos up in this tree!!

Oh my goodness…the light coming through the trees was just amazing. I love autumn!!

How nice is it that the leaves coordinated perfectly with Emily’s beautiful red hair? Love it!! :)

Emily loves to read and we decided to stop at the library for a few photos that would highlight her love of books! We actually had to literally RUN from the car, into the library, and back (while carrying a bunch of camera gear and favorite books too!) for these shots in order to get Emily back to her dorm on time! We just couldn’t pass up getting at least a few at the library though and I think it was well worth it!! :)

Emily, you are just lovely! I hope you had as much fun getting your senior pictures taken as I had taking them!! Best wishes for all the good things that lie ahead for you!!

Rachel and Isaac - sneak peek! Wed, 19 Oct 2011 04:35:56 +0000 Karen Here are a few sneak peeks from Rachel and Isaac’s beautiful wedding at the Ft. Wayne  Botanical Conservatory. I absolutely LOVED working with Rachel and Isaac and can’t wait to share more from their day!!

Favorite!! :)

Kalie and Matt - sneak peek! Tue, 02 Aug 2011 04:45:04 +0000 Karen Even with the best intentions, I have gotten a little behind on posting sneak peeks on facebook lately. I’m trying to get back on track though (and even post some here on my blog too)!!  :) So, here are a couple of sneak peeks from Kalie and Matt’s wedding. There are many more photos to come, including some really fun ones we took with Matt’s grandpa’s amazing vintage car! But since a short blog post is better than no post at all, I’ll go ahead and post this one right now!! Kalie and Matt, I hope you are doing well and I hope you know that we loved capturing memories of your beautiful wedding day!! Thanks for including us!

Bijou Flushmount Style Album [Part One] Tue, 02 Aug 2011 04:11:51 +0000 Karen I wanted to post a few photos of one of the newer album styles that I’m offering - the Bijou Flushmount album. Flushmount albums offer limitless options for page layouts. The whole page spread is designed as one piece from edge to edge, creating a clean and unified look.

Ann and Will chose a simple, classic canvas cover for their album which looked just beautiful. There are so many great options though. Choose your colors, cover material, whether you’d like a photo on the cover or maybe even a patterned background. I love that the Bijou gives you so many options for customizing your album so that it is the perfect book for you! (I’ll be posting more pictures of different cover options too, and I know that you’ll love them!!)

The albums are beautifully bound…

and they lay flat when opened.

The thick and sturdy pages are strong enough hold up through all of the page-turning that your album will see and feature photographic prints that are coated for protection.

If you haven’t seen one of these albums in person, set up a time to come by and see them. I know that you will fall in love with them!!

Sharon and Michael [Indianapolis, Indiana engagement photography] Sat, 14 May 2011 15:56:38 +0000 Karen Sharon and Michael met while they were both living in Chicago. Now, however, Sharon is working in Chicago, Michael is doing a PhD program in Connecticut, and the wedding is going to be in Indianapolis! Needless to say, working out all of our schedules and planning a date for their engagement session was a challenge!! We found a date that would work for everyone, and hoped for good weather and a beautiful outdoor engagement session.  As luck would have it, the day of the session came and it was pouring down rain! I had been scrambling for some good indoor options and suggested that we maybe try Indianapolis’ Central Library. It ended up being absolutely perfect!

It turns out that Sharon and Michael had actually looked into having their wedding at the library! They especially loved the old section (and so did I!!), with all of its warmth and character. Unfortunately, it hadn’t worked to have their ceremony there, but how perfect that we were able to use the space for their engagement photos!! The other thing that made it great is that they are having a book theme for their wedding. Could we have had a more perfect way to tie the engagement session and the wedding together?? I don’t think so!!

For this set of photos, we were in a section that was filled with books about dragons and things of that nature. I quickly scanned the aisles for a book for Sharon and Michael to hold in a few photos. I was looking for an older book with a simple cover and this was one of the first ones I found. Can you see the title? And They Lived Happily Ever After. Love it!

Sharon and Michael are just so sweet together. I had so much fun getting to know them and seeing them interact.

The rain let up quite a bit at the end of our session and we snapped a couple of shots outside. These two could definitely pass for models, don’t you think?  :)

Who needs an umbrella when you’ve got love, right?

Sharon and Michael, I am so, so, so excited for your wedding! I know that it will be just as perfect as the two of you are together!!

Helen and Chad [Matthews, Indiana engagement photography] Sat, 23 Apr 2011 01:26:23 +0000 Karen Let me just say this: Helen and Chad are awesome.  We had planned to do their engagement photos while Chad (who is currently living out of state) was in town for a visit, not knowing that the day we’d chosen would turn out to be absolutely FREEZING.  To make matters worse, the fact that it was an early morning session meant that it was even colder!  (In fact, the temperature was only 24 degrees!)  Helen and Chad were so great about it though!  They did whatever I asked, and their positive attitudes made the whole experience really fun.  We would shoot for a bit, then they’d hop in the car with the heater on full blast until they could feel their fingers and toes again, then it was back to shooting!!  The amazing thing is that I don’t think you can even tell how cold they were…they were such pros at looking relaxed.  Here are some of my favorites from the morning!

I love this covered bridge…and I love this shot with Helen’s dog, Freckles!!

Helen and Chad seem so relaxed and natural together…don’t you just love that?

Helen and Chad, I am so excited for your wedding this summer!  (And I’m especially glad that the weather will be warmer in June than it was in March!!)  See you again soon!

Jenee and David - engagement [Muncie, Indiana] Tue, 14 Dec 2010 18:42:31 +0000 Karen Jenee and David contacted me about doing their engagement photos this Fall, and wanted to get a mix of photos downtown and out in some more nature-inspired settings.  We ended up with a great day in November (in weather that seems so warm compared to the recent cold we’ve been having this month!) and found fun spots downtown and even some leaves that were still colorful!!

Jenee and David are heading off to Hawaii for a romantic destination wedding soon!!  (Can I please go too??!)  I know that they’ll have an amazing time in beautiful Hawaii and they’ll come home with all sorts of photos from the breathtaking places that they’ll be visiting.  But I think that it will also be special to look back at these photos - taken in the Fall, while they were engaged, in the place that they call home.  :)  Here are some of my favorites that I hope will bring back memories of this time in their lives for years to come.

Thanks for sharing this time in your lives with me, Jenee and David!!  I loved capturing your engagement portraits, and I can’t wait to hear about your fabulous trip to Hawaii!

Baby Jack [Noblesville, Indiana newborn photography] Fri, 08 Oct 2010 22:20:37 +0000 Karen If you saw Erin’s maternity photos a few weeks back, you’re probably wondering about the arrival of her little one!!  Well, he is here!!  Jack is absolutely precious!!  I was able to meet him when he was 13 days old and I had so much fun photographing this little guy!

He was wide awake and taking it all in for at least part of the session!

Is it possible for 13-day-old babies to giggle?  That’s what I think it looks like Jack is doing here.

Oh my goodness…look at that sweet face!!  :)

All cuddled up.  :)

This super soft, cuddly blanket that you see in several pictures was given to Erin by friends who wanted to keep her as comfortable as possible when she was in the hospital for Jack’s birth.  It was also perfect for keeping little Jack cozy and warm during our session.

Jack with his daddy, Jacob

The happy family!

Jack you have been blessed with wonderful parents!  Erin and Jacob, it has been such a joy to watch your family grow!!  I feel so honored to have been able to document these first days of Jack’s life!  Thank you for entrusting me with the task!!
